Top 5 Best Treadmills Of 2024
I’ve been testing treadmills for almost 10 years, and even though they could all seem to do the same thing, I can guarantee you that there is a big difference between using a good treadmill and a terrible one. I’ve fortunately done hundreds of miles on high-quality indoor treadmills, but I’ve also run enough on subpar ones to advise you to stay away from them.
Despite being an expensive buy, I have tried treadmills that range in price from $399 to $12,000, and there are definitely affordable versions that will be suitable for many runners. Because it offers both excellent hardware and access to Peloton’s excellent guided lessons, the Peloton Tread is my overall top pick. If Peloton isn’t your thing, though, I’ve discovered a tonne of other amazing treadmills that can accommodate all types of runners.

Top 5 Best Treadmills of 2024
1: Peloton Tread

Your account can be activated on the touch screen during Tread assembly.
- THOUSANDS OF LIVE & ON-DEMAND CLASSES: Access to thousands of classes, both on and off your Tread, like running, walking, hiking, strength, bootcamp, yoga, and more. To customize your workouts, Peloton allows you to stack classes, enabling you to transition from class to class with ease

The Peloton Tread is without a doubt the best treadmill for guided at-home training. The device boasts a large 23.8-inch touchscreen display for Peloton’s engaging virtual classes and your workout statistics, in addition to being more visually appealing and easier to operate than conventional treadmills.
Rather than using buttons on the display to vary the pace and incline, you may easily change the intensity using simple control knobs on each of the machine’s arms. Peloton’s machines can automatically adjust to the trainer’s directions during streamed sessions, saving you the trouble.
The main disadvantage is that you need to get a Peloton All Access Membership, which costs $44 per month, in order to fully use this expensive machine. Everyone in the home can use it, though, because this subscription permits multiple users.
But after experimenting with other treadmills that have partner applications that offer courses, I am convinced that Peloton’s instructors will keep you motivated the entire time.
However, it won’t be a waste even if you choose to terminate your membership. Impressive hardware features of the Peloton Tread include a strong motor and a high top speed. You can still use it in Just Run mode if you choose to terminate your membership. Furthermore, I felt that running at higher speeds without worrying about clipping the console was more pleasant because of the open front.
If you’re still not satisfied, we’ve also tested the Peloton Tread+, which is the brand’s larger and more costly treadmill. Although the experience isn’t very different, you do get a longer slatted running surface, better speakers, a higher slope, and a more immersive display.
Put your toolbox away since you won’t need it here. When you purchase the Peloton Tread, you will be prompted to select a delivery time that is convenient for you. A few days before delivery, a member of the Peloton delivery crew will get in touch with you to ask where your Tread is supposed to be installed. Since the home is old, I soon realised that my intentions to build a treadmill in my spare bedroom would not work because the weight of the treadmill and my running on it could destroy the ceiling joists. Peloton always suggests that you consider an alternative location before the delivery team arrives.
On the morning of delivery, I received a second contact with a precise time slot. After setting up the Tread, connecting it to Wi-Fi, and explaining its features to me, the group departed. Although I haven’t had to get in touch with customer service, I was provided the information in case I have any queries or problems. Everything about the service was excellent and stress-free.
Pros
- Relatively small and neat compared to many other treadmills on the market
- Classes are second to none

Between the high-end and low-cost treadmill categories is the Echelon Stride. In most areas, its features, build, and power are sufficient. The Stride has fewer features than more expensive treadmills. For instance, it does not have an HD video screen, but you can still view the Echelon app and its guided classes on the tablet.
The maximum speed of 12 miles per hour is more than sufficient for most runners, and even at greater speeds, I didn’t have any problems with the belt being too short. It also features a 10% inclination and a 3% descent. The Echelon Stride is smaller than the Peloton Tread and folds for convenient storage, which is another important selling feature.
The 55-inch track is a bit short, but the Echelon Stride is stylish and modern. Most of the Stride’s rivals are 60 inches in length. Since I’m short, I had no problems, but if you’re taller than six feet, you may need to adjust your running gait. The 55-inch track is a bit short, but the Echelon Stride is stylish and modern. Most of the Stride’s rivals are 60 inches in length. Since I’m short, I had no problems, but if you’re taller than six feet, you may need to adjust your running gait. The 55-inch track is a bit short, but the Echelon Stride is stylish and modern. Most competitors in the Stride’s pricing range have a length of 60 inches. I had no issues because I’m small, but if you’re taller than six feet, you might need to change your jogging stride.
The Echelon Stride does not have an HD screen like the Tread or Commercial 1750. Instead, the Stride has a digital touch console that can be used as a standalone treadmill. All the basic parameters, including as speed, distance, time, steps, and heart rate, are displayed on the screen, along with eight pre-programmed training options and several quick-select incline and speed buttons. I placed an iPad with the Echelon Fit software installed in the console’s tablet holder (more on that later). The USB connector on the rear of the console can be used to keep your device charged.
The arms contain buttons to adjust the slope and pace, as well as pulse monitors and two cup holders for water bottles (the Stride has a phone insert). The Stride’s biggest feature is its auto-folding function, which makes storage easier. I find that having a tiny area is really beneficial. To fold the Stride, just push down the arms and console. Then, step on a lever to make the arms descend to the track automatically. When folded, it is just around 10 inches thick. The treadmill may be lowered to a vertical position so it can go under furniture or rolled up against a wall.
I suppose the Stride’s price is reduced because it doesn’t have an HD screen. But it costs about the same as the NordicTrack T 6.5 Si, which features a 10-inch display. A screen is not required if you don’t care about classes or picturesque surroundings. Additionally, you can access the Echelon app on the Stride using your own tablet.
Pros
- Clever auto-folding system
Cons
- Short running deck

The Bowflex Treadmill 22 boasts a great design and construction, a lot of auxiliary functions, and powerful performance. It’s the treadmill I use the most, having run hundreds of miles on it while preparing for various races.
This high-end machine is as big and sturdy as, if not more so than, the machines at your gym. I found the running surface to be roomy and comfortable, and the enormous 22-inch touchscreen makes watching exercises fun. Additionally, if you link your streaming services through the JRNY app, you may watch Netflix or Disney Plus as you run.
The JRNY app is required to get the most out of the treadmill, even if there is a two-month free trial period. JRNY does not offer studio sessions in person. It never occurred to me that I would have a tank in my spare room. Compared to the treadmills at your neighbourhood gym, the Bowflex Treadmill 22 is a real monster, bigger and more durable. Given its 336-pound weight, you should take your time deciding where to place it because it will be there when you do. For me, the idea of removing it from my home is too much to bear.
That weight directly contributes to durability and strength. Without a doubt, the Treadmill 22 could endure long periods of vigorous running. The upper limit of the range can be the 400-pound maximum user weight. The Peloton Tread and the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 can only weigh up to 300 pounds.
The Bowflex should accommodate nearly everyone because to its 60-inch-long and 22-inch-wide running surface. The Echelon Stride’s shorter track (55 inches) led me to believe that taller persons would need to shorten their stride.
The Bowflex looks like a typical high-end treadmill thanks to its sleek, black matte finish with red and silver accents. The massive 22-inch HD touchscreen is what truly sets this equipment apart, and only the screens on the Peloton Tread and the NordicTrack Commercial X22i can rival it. The vivid display makes it fun to follow along with lectures, go for lovely walks, and even watch Netflix.
Along with the standard cup holders and safety key, the Treadmill 22 also has a USB connector, a media rack that can accommodate your phone or tablet, and extended grips with heart rate sensors. You can change your pace without even touching the screen thanks to the handy speed and incline buttons on the grips and side arms.
Pros
- Powerful 4.0 HP motor
- Heavy-duty build
Cons
- Very expensive

With top-notch hardware and software, the Technogym Run is the best commercial-standard treadmill available for the home, even though it costs at least twice as much as the majority of the treadmills on this list. The machine itself is designed to withstand years of continuous use. It can simulate weights of up to 121 pounds for sled push exercises, which are excellent for high-intensity interval training, and it has a very high top speed of 15.5 mph and a maximum inclination of 15%.
As a 6’6″ runner who frequently runs at speeds above 10 mph, I discovered that the treadmill’s slatted belt and open front provide a realistic and pleasurable running experience. The belt was also easily big enough to fit me. The treadmill also runs quietly at higher speeds, and changes speed and incline smoothly and quickly.
On the large 27-inch screen, you can watch Netflix or other streaming services, follow instructor-led workouts with the Technogym app, or even connect the screen to Zwift. With a wide range of entertainment options for your workouts and skill and technique sessions to help you become a better runner using the Technogym Run’s sled push mode, it’s a far more open app than Peloton’s.
Although you must pay $8.99 a month to unlock all of the app’s features, that is less than most subscriptions, and there is so much free content that I don’t believe you need to purchase a subscription in order to access the Technogym Run’s essential features.
Negative aspects of the Techongym Run are obvious. As a commercial standard machine it is large — you need to consider the height of your ceilings as well as floor space, because it stands quite high off the floor — and it’s very expensive. Technogym and others make better value machines, but if money is no object the Technogym Run is an incredible bit of kit.
Pros
- Partner app with guided workouts
- High top speed and incline
Cons
- More affordable options available

The NordicTrack Commercial x22i is large for a reason—if you’re low on room, it’s not the greatest choice. The treadmill can be adjusted from -5% to 40%, which is a far greater range than most other home machines.
Like many other great treadmills, it peaks at 12 mph, so you can really work on your cardio fitness and leg strength, especially if you put the speed and incline up to maximum. The handy cupholder allows you to stay hydrated when running up hills.
We found that the treadmill was enjoyable to use because the little running surface had some padding for a comfortable bounce underfoot when you run. But the reality is undeniable, of course.because a lot of room is required to accommodate it.
Because of its large dimensions (70 x 39 x 72.5 inches) and inability to fold, it will require a permanent place in your house. However, if you have the space, the 22-inch screen allows you to access iFit’s virtual exercises and classes as well, provided you purchase a $39 monthly membership.
Pros
- Large touchscreen
- Massive incline
Cons
- Speakers are weak
